We've done a lot of dyno testing of different maf setups & typically you want to go up in MAF size as you go up in power. The 85 or 100mm maf doesn't make any power gains on a stock engine, but they start to make substantial power gains as power increases.
We've seen 10-12hp gains from installing the 100mm maf in place of the 85mm slp unit on big power heads cam applications. That being said it won't help you any if you don't have a large throttle body to cram that air through

If you want a MAF that can be installed "good & go", then you MUST replace the MAF w/ the stock MAF, no porting, no de-screening. I don't see intake & throttle body information in your signature. So, if they are stock, there is no reason to go w/ a bigger MAF, as stated above. If you replace a stock MAF w/ a ported & de-screened modified stock MAF, then tuning is needed.
Further, if you go w/ an 85mm MAF, it will need a tune. Good-luck

the stock maf is good for 500+hp . i took a ported maf and was running way lean on the dyno . put the stock one on and the a/f was good . of course you can tune a ported or 85mm etc.. but just plug and play get a stock maf .
just wondeirng how did your maf go out ? have you tried to clean it ?
