ls6 intake, egr question
I just bought an ls6 intake from a friend, and ill be removing the egr when i install it this weekend. So....I ordered the blockoff plate for the exhaust manifold from ws6store.com,
but,
do i HAVE TO remove the AIR at the same time? or can i just get rid of the EGR for now?
i honestly have no idea what the AIR is; ive always driven a mustang and they dont have this.

I believe that the AIR system is seperate, but IMO you should take it out at the same time. Taking it out makes the engine bay look less cluttered and much cleaner.
AIR - Air Injection Recirculation - Emissions controll device. Injects fresh air into the exhaust gas before the cats. Helps them heat up to reach "emissions light off" faster.

yeah i still have the stock manifolds and cats. I'm buying race style l.t's soon , but im gonna go ahead and put this ls6 intake on now; i wont have AIR when the headers are installed.
i was just wondering if i had to do both at the same time. I guess its kind of a dumb question.
im just too lazy to research and actually pop the hood and look for what it actually does. asking someone on here is so much easier. lol

if it were me, i would wait to install the ls6 intake till i got the headers, then install both together, while installing i would remove air/egr, then i would immediately take it to get tuned for the new installs and to get AIR and EGR tuned out so you wont have a ses light on. plus you will draw another 10-20 hp out of the installs with a good tune.
but thats just me.
but thats just me.

well I think it would be fine if you put on the ls6 intake now. but after u take off the egr take it to a shop and for $50-$75 they should be able to delete the egr and air codes. I could tell quite a difference with the ls6 intake. u will like it. and the headers will help out that much more and atune even more. ur car will wake up a lot. when do u plan on getting header and what kind.
