Getting a whine noise that increases/decreases with rpms...
The car is an 02 WS6 with 32k miles on it. The car has the stock Monsoon stereo system. I checked the power steering fluid level and its fine. I hear it when Im driving around town. I got out and popped the hood and revved the car from the engine bay and I can hear it very clearly. It sounds like its coming from the driver side. Im thinking its the alternator but I wanna make sure before I go tearing it out to replace. Any way to diagnose this before going to work on it? Is there a way to check the output of the alternator? Is it usually an electrical piece of the alternator to go bad or a mechanical piece like a bearing? Im not too familiar with electrical. Thanks

It's either your alternator or PS pump, I'm actually in the middle of fixing my power steering pump issue. Check your fluid levels in the reservoir as well as the fluid itself. One of the PS lines In my system has burst, now my ENTIRE cooling/radiator system and PS system is a mix of coolent and PS fluid...It looks like milk!
