Cutout sizing help!

Cutout sizing help! I'm looking at cutouts, but they only come in 2.5" or 3", and I read that my stock exhaust at the I pipe is 2 3/4". I really want the cutout at the I so it's easy to open and close, and between the cat and muffler. Any ideas?

What about the 1/4" gap? It doesn't seem like there's room to weld 360 degrees around the pipe as close as it is to the car so I was hoping to use clamps...
