Spark knock from old spark plugs
So I was wondering if anyone has ever had spark knock from old plugs. I bought a 2002 ss that had tr55 that had over 40,000 on them and when I pulled them out the gap was about .66. And every time I floor the car in the high rpms it had audible spark knock and the pcm was also pulling the spark down to 22. I ran the car like that last weekend and the mph was only 102. And it should be at least 105 or more with my mods. I have no cats, lid, and a tune with hp tuners. Let me know what you guys think. So far I have used seafoam in the engine and changed plugs. And so far I think the problem is solved. Let me know what you think. Thanks Jared

Sounds to me more like a misfire than spark knock. The PCM pulling timing may be due to the engine misfiring, as opposed to an actual knock.
Worn out plugs with much gap erosion will cause misfires, usually its more noticeable in the lower RPM's though.
To answer your question, no, I've never heard of worn out spark plugs causing preignition.

Mine clatters/pings sometimes also for no apparent reason.
