Default What catback offers the most bang for the buck?

My friend just bought a 98 LS1 Z28 and he wants a catback. I suggested he go with the Hooker. It's the cheapest bang for the buck, this way he has more money to spend on other mods like cams, and headers etc.. What do u guys suggest. Thanks.

all catbacks dyno about the same. Its the sound that makes them different.

In my professional opinion ...

The Hooker is the "best bang for the buck". The Hooker cat-backs gives around the same hp increase as any of them will, and for the price, you can't beat it. And it sounds great to boot.

The Loudmouth sounds great but can be loud since there is no real muffler, it will be really loud if you remove the ctas to.

I say best "bang for the buck" would be Hooker but also the SLP Loud Mouth is great it does get very loud and raspy when running LT's and off road pipe. But personally I think the louder the better!!

How bout the "Dynomouth"? It is a Dynomax bullet muffler welded into the intermediate pipe and then either a custom 3 inch ypipe fabbed up to utilize the stock exhausst tips. Some, like myself opt for a single 3 inch turndown before or after the rear axle. The Dynomax Race Bullet muffler http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...mp;prmenbr=361 is the highest flowing muffler out there. Based on Dyno results of guys who have done this, its flow and rwhp numbers are not surpassed by any currently offered catback. My setup's total price was 140.00 installed. Do a search on "dynomouth" you will find lots of feedback and soundclips/vid clips.

One more thing, when I went to a single 3" turndown, I also saved probably 35lbs(equal to chucking the spare tire and jack)in weight because the stock exhaust weighs 50 lbs. If your friend REALLY wants to get the best BANG for the buck, he could throw a cutout in the I-pipe of the stock exhaust, probably 80.00 for everything including install.

I liked my Hooker Catback. $279 and you could remove it in 15mins at the track to drop off 30lbs...not that I ever did, but you could.

I hear B&B doesn't flow too well compared to some of the others.
