Default what cam to buy? upgade from asa cam to torquer v2?

I am having the tsp 5.3 heads installed on my car and was probably gonna upgrade from my current gmpp asa cam to the torquer v2. I live in Baltimore Md. and having F-body Central doing the work. My car made 369rwhp on their mustang dyno with the asa cam through an ls1 intake and flowmaster with one heck of a flat torque curve ! Needless to say I was very impressed and have to say that place is friggin awesome !

Now my question is the torquer v2 a good choice and will it make anywhere near the same flat torque curve as the asa? In the real world (on the street or track) will my car be any faster with the t2 over the asa? I would assume it would make more peak hp but this is more of a street car for me and will see little track time. Also if i dont do the t2 cam i probly would have enough money to do a 4.10 12bolt while getting the heads put on. Any suggestions or input?

the t2 will add more power and doesnt really take away that much down low if you got rid of the chokemaster exhaust alone i could see you adding 5-10 with ur setup now

haha, yeah the chokemaster. I just love the way it sounds. I cant find another cat-back that sounds the way i like. Although your car sounds pretty badass with the cutout open ! I only have till tomorrow to decide on the cam and the more i search the harder it is to make up my mind Im thinkin of maybe going bigger like the ms4 but then i dont no how much more its gonna cost for the right heads, and until i get gears it'll probly suck to drive... blahblahblah. I guess as long as i can whip up on a pullied 03/04 cobra i'll be happy with whatever i decide to go with.

Man, anymore comments or suggestions?

my torque curve was pretty flat for my Torquer V1 cam, and the tuning wasn't even that good.

i say upgrade, lobe technology has come a long way. those heads will REALLY wake up that cam. you should have no problem hitting 430rwhp with a good tune.

torquer v1 w/ stock heads

Man thanks guys. I was really startin to doubt mt decision and thinkin of goin with the torquer v3 but with the higher rpm for peak hp and all that lift on the intake it started to make me think why not just go for the ms3 or ms4.
Thanks for postin the graphs too cuz like i said that asa had such great torque but with those 5.3 heads gettin put on i think i need to go with a bigger cam to get the most out of those heads.

Anyone know if the v2 will still sound as mean as the asa's idle? I think i'm gettin it on a 112 lsa.

i dont think you will gain enough to fool with the swap....ive seen several asa cammed carsd lay down 400rwhp camonly.....a cutout and an ls6 intake and you would be close anyway......the asa loves free flowing exhaust and the flowmaster is not a good flowing catback.....i vote keep the asa....

Dont forget the Torquer 3 camshaft, dyno testing has shown that the T3 gains 83hp over the stock camshaft & made better power across the board compared to the T2.

Here's some dyno sheets for you!

It will clear easy no mill stock MLS gasket. It will clear bigger valve 5.3's too no mill etc.. but be a little tighter

I agree w/ 5 02ls1 here. I wouldnt swap unless I was going with something alot bigger. So if you were stock, I could see the dilemma in choosing a cam (tsp makes some good stuff), but since you have a cam already, I doubt the few extra hp would be worth all the extra money. Like was mentioned, the exhaust is holding the asa back and a swap to an ls6 intake would help too. Of course those 2 mods would help out the torquer too. In the end its all about what you really want. So if swapping cams is what you really wanna do, then its not a waste of time or money if the end result makes you happy. Good luck, and post up the results if you switch!

i picked up 81 with my torquer 2.....great power across the board and a lot of under the power curve. the t3 also seems to be a great choice.

and u dont have to flycut to run the t3
