4.030" X 4.100" in an LQ9 Block- Largest bore?
Hey guys. I'm looking to build up an LQ9 Block with a forged bottom end. I was hoping to do a 427 cid (4.125" X 4.000"), but it seems this may be either unsafe or unattainable.
My mechanic told me the largest bore for these blocks is 30 over (4.030"). I have read many posts, and did many searchs. Most say 30 over is the largest, safest bore, but a larger bore can be obtained only if sonic checked by a machine shop.
What I'm wondering is, should I give up on "427" and just do a "418" with a 4.030" X 4.100" ?
This will still be a DD for the time being, and will spend 99% of the time on the street, not the track. I will be reusing my heads, FAST 92/92, and everything else in my sig that can/needs to be used, minus the cam.
Wondering what kind of power output I can expect to see with the 418 cid build with a semi-mild street cam. I'll have Pat G spec me out a custom grind most likely.
