Default Will a trex or ms3/4 cam fit with 220CC 5.3L STAGE 2.5 CNC PORTED HEADS ?

I have these heads with a torqurer 2 cam right now. I would like to upgrade to the ms3/4 or trex cam. Will either of these cams fit without flycutting ??

Some people will tell you one thing and then the next people you talk to will tell you another.. for every individual setup its impossible to tell for sure (and you want to be sure) unless its a tiny cam, and it sounds like you want to go big.

With bigger cams the only sure way to tell is to test it out and plan on worst case scenario that you have to flycut.. Hell if you have to flycut at that point I'de mill the heads while I'm already in there and have a more effective setup. But if your budget is so strict that you cant figure in the possibility that you may have to flycutt than you may want to hold off a little while and get some more money behind yah.

We recently finished up our newest camshaft The Texas Tsunami. The Tsunami features custom TSP Lobes on the intake & XER exhaust lobes. The specs are 235/240 .65x/.61x 111. The Tsunami has better p/v than the MS4 & it might clear the cylinder heads your running. I'll do some p/v checking next week & let you know what kind of clearance differences the camshafts have.

sounds good. I will be calling you guys tommorow anyhow Jason. I may have you custom grind me a monster cam for my setup without having to worry about clearance issues.

The cams they offer are already as big as you can pretty much go without flycutting if you want to go substantially bigger you would DEFF have to flycutt, but most tuners/engine builders on here will tell you that the MS4 and Trex Ms3 and this new tsunami cam are already big bump sticks.

The issue is going bigger isn't really helping from a power standpoint. We've tested many competitors larger camshafts & several camshafts the Comp Engineers helped us workout for stock 346 applications. In every test the MS4 & Tsunami both showed to be right at the limit of hp gains, in most tests the larger camshafts made equal or less hp & torque while moving the torque peak WAY UP...

Funny on the Tsunami,

I have a grind that I use

236/240 .617/.610 111+2 LSA, that has produced really good numbers in trq and Hp.
One guy here with a LS6 cam only made 84rwhp and 68rwtq (peak) with it. (from his bolt on setup)
He wanted it Juice friendly so the +2 instead of strait up.
It is a bit tight on intake, but in-line with big cam PTV tolerances.

keep us posted as I have the same heads..Right now I have a custom 232/238 612 607 111+2..Curious as to how much Hp i would gain going with the tsunami, and would lose alot of lowend..This is of coarse if it will clear..

To the op sorry for the thread hijack
