Default Degreeing the cam

I installed my new cam in my 00 c5 without degreeing it.. its a comp cam. custom grind
228/232 on 112 .588/ .595 lift
Installed it dot to dot.. I know i should have degreed it but got carried away putting the car back together before thinking about it. maybe to many beers later lol... Am i leaving alot of h/p on the table without degreeing or should it be real close

Most custom comps I see DON'T have any advance ground into, but you will be losing some lowend trq and maybe alittle upper rpm power, but with that 112ICL(if ground with 0 advance), this cam will carry peak hp past 6000k now.

Isn't it true that you'd need an adjustable timing gear to add any advance during the install? If you use the stock timing gears, wouldn't moving it a tooth from dot to dot be too much?

My understanding is that degreeing the cam just allows you to verify it was truly ground to specs, but you'd need an adjustable timing gear to adjust the advance.

Either do it way an adjustable t/c set or offset bushing on the cams dowel pin.

Ahh, cool, I didn't know you could effectively move the dowel pin like that. Makes sense.

Advancing or retarding a cam by crank position is just plain dumb.
