Default Dart 225 after info

Firstly I am going to use JZsTA flow numbers, since we didnt use the dart recommended valve and my numbers are lower than his. His before and afters below.

Lift---Intake---------Exhaust
200---108vs143----108vs121
300---194vs207----164vs170
400---246vs261----207vs220
500---281vs291----231vs241
550---288vs293----237vs245
600---294vs303----241vs248
625---290vs306----242vs250
650---286vs311----242vs252
675---282vs313----
700---278vs315----

Here are my afters
intake exhaust (NO PIPE)
200 134 104
300 201 142
400 255 178
500 297 205
600 321 220
700 326 224
800 329

Not too bad for a new casting, but dont we always want more? This is with a different valve job on the intake and exhaust, with valves to compliment. Notice how the intake never stops flowing? That is what is great about the wide throat valve job I have been using the last few months. Its my thought, the engine pulls harder than the flowbench, thus makes the difference in upper lift stability more adventagous than on the flowbench alone. I dont think that the head is going leaps and bounds further than I got it, unless you increase runner size and go with a 2.08 valve. The seat and chamber have plenty of room for it. A few pics below for reference.

In the last pic, is that a hole in the runner?

Those are nice man!! Some of the nicest work I've seen! So you started with their 225 or did you have a 205 and brought it up to a 225? Are you on stock cubes? Just curious why you started with the 225 if you in fact did?

Yep...he completely screwed up those heads.

Just joking...That's actually just the rocker arm bolt. It's fine the way it is. The rocker arm bolt just needs a bit of thread sealer and it'll be fine.

Ah, I didn't see the threads (still don't) but I know what you're talking about. That's common.

Started with the 225s, they are actually for a customer. C6, LG Pros, G5X3, Borla Stinger. Should have dyno numbers in a week or so. I just used this for a chance to experiment a little with the head and the customer was willing to give me the nod, so no worries. Really I only took out about 5-7cc in the intake, and 5 or so cc in the exhaust.

LOL, I meant tool in the hands of the porter not the person.

Are those marks form a burr or a coarse sanding roll?

Backed the exhaust up about 15*, and only blended the intake to the wider valve job, it was already just about spot on.

80 grit cartridge roll. It looks more course in the pictures because of the good resolution. In reality its very smooth to touch.

Well you are about right, the flow numbers are alittle better than average actually. Dont get caught up in every internet flow number you read. No the 205s would not flow better. You guys need to keep in mind, this is still a fairly small runner. If I were to add 10cc to it, and add a 2.08 valve, it would be a different head all together. Stock 243 castings (LS2). Also, the chamber in the head is very nice, that in itself is worth a few hp, no doubt. All in all, this head would probably beat up on a similar LS6 with the same flow numbers. I am guessing in the 15-20 hp range, really. The flow coming out of these heads at ALL lift is smooth and crisp. There is a total lack of distortion of resonance, like you can even get with heads that dont stall. The problem we have now, this set might go on a 383 stroker '67 stingray, with another set intended for the C6. I have to talk to the customer tomorrow.

Looking mighty nice man.
Damn good flow numbers as well.
Looks like were on the same page with taking the least amount out possible while really picking up the head.
BTW my head flow numbers were the 205's with hand ported with a DART valve job.
We will be doing a new valve job on them to see what happens.
Now there are even more options.
I am sure I will do a set of 225's soon as I have a customer with a 396 all stroke motor looking for heads and is giving these some thought.

i know this is an old thread, but you left us hanging on results . did they make it on to an engine to see what power they made?
my darts with very mild touch up in bowls and short turns with a good valve job did great.
