Default questions on a DoD equipped LQ9 motor - good starting point?

kind of lost on where this topic goes so here goes: I'd like to put a camm'ed (something like an LS6 cam) 2003 LQ9 into my 73 camaro. I'd need a new oil pan for the conversion. The motor I got has DoD, searching on here, I'm confused if the conversion and cam swap is even do able with the DoD feature on this motor. Let me be clear - I DON'T WANT TO RETAIN the DoD feature. I'd like to cam it and swap the oil pan. Am I up against more trouble than its worth, it looks like there are lots of issues and differences with these DoD motors? Only looking for about 400 -450 hp/ft-lbs, its going in front of a D&D T56 and 4:10 gears. I haven't even looked at the wiring harness issues or if there are.
thanks

The DOD can be removed with relative ease. You will need some new covers as well as the cam, lifters and timing chain. You will have a very fun car to drive with the 6.0 coupled to the D&D T56, good luck on your project.

thanks Kurt!

what pieces need to be removed to run without the DoD feature? I"ll probably need a new oil pump/pickup with a new oil pan most likely?

The oilpump is a high volume unit and should be replaced with a standard pump. The rest you will probably change anyway, cam, lifters, lifter guides, front cover, top cover and timing chain. You can use the pan if it fits your car, if you change that you will need the pick-up to match and maybe the widage tray.

I just re-read your original post about putting your engine in a early Camaro. Attached is a picture of the Moroso pan made for early body swap. I have used one on my 83 Malibu and it fit great; it might be nice for your swap.

Kurt thanks for the tip that is a sweet pic.

GMctruck, are you sure? I've searched about a million posts and the only sure thing I've come across are flat tops are LQ9s. Ifound a pic that said this is a pic of DoD and w/ o showing the deck pad area on two different 6.0.

ba u don't want dod. It only increases mpg by 8 percent. Plus with exhaust it sounds good until you hit cruisin speed and it goes into 4cylinder mode. Sounds like a ricer
