Default Measuring Pre-load with a dial indicator?

I'm using a dial indicator to measure my lifter pre-load and want to make sure I get the right measurement. When I initially torque the rocker arm I get .023" pre-load and then the dial indicator slowly moves to .067", I suppose the lifter is bleeding down. My question is, which measurement is right? These are OEM Comp Lifters, 7.350 PR, and Yella Terra 1.7 rockers..

sounds like the .023 is the accurate #.

the bleeding down will give a false reading...

Ok, so go with the initial reading right after it's torqued? Also, is .010" ok for OEM replacement lifter's, seems like it would, but is there a down side.

Thanks guys,
Dan
