Default Any one here run the dart 205 cc heads? looking for opinions.

I am planning on doing a heads and cam swap here in the very near future on a 2002 camaro ss a4 with 54,000 miles with a stock short block. I haven't decided yet if I will go with the fast 90/90 now or later and run the ls6 intake for now.
Which heads perform better with a stalled (3800) automatic ls1 car Dart 205 cc, stage2.5 ls6 or stage 2.5 5.3 heads? How do these 3 heads compare with each other?
I am not looking to build a high reving combination. This is a street car and I want to have good power all the way through the rpm range up to about 6500 rpm. I ran the torquer v.3 cam before and liked it alot. I would rather stay with a lower lift cam than the v.3's 640 lift. I am leaning towards the torquer 2 cam now. I guess this is a 2 part question because I am looking for input on cams also.

I ran the 205s on my Z06 with an F14 cam in the stock cube 346. I also started off my 383 with the Dart 205s as well. If you mill them for a little extra compression the heads perform quite well out of the box. On my Z06 with the stock water pump and Ls6 intake I laid down 451 rwhp 423 rwtq with the Dart 205s. They were an improvement from 423 rwhp 408 rqtq that my cam and bolt ons made with my Ls6 heads. Just so you know the F14 cam is a 232 234 with .595 lift on each side.

was the zo6 a 6 speed or auto? Would you buy the darts over say a set of prc stage 2.5 ls6 heads if the price was really close? I am looking at running them on my auto car with a cam similar to the f14 and ls6 intake and I would like to make 420+ to the rear wheels.

All Z06's are six speeds from the factory. And if I had to I would definitely buy them again. The only difference would be I would opt up for the 225s over the 205s. That way I have the ability to grow later on. The main reason I changed is because while the Dart 205s were great, they were a little off in feeding my 383. Plus down here we have numerous people running the Dart heads and most have opted up for the 225s even on the 346. Just a little FYI my old Dart 205s heads went onto a FI 346 car, and instantly increased it 40 rwhp over some ported heads he had.

Defiantely look to the Stage 2.5 5.3l cylinder heads. We've tested them next to the more popular cnc ported 205cc heads & the PRC heads compared really really well on the engine dyno.

The PRC spring kit will do very well at larger lifts, I wouldn't worry to much about running the Torquer 3 if you like it! I've personally seen PRC springs after 50k miles still going strong at those lifts!!!

What kind of horse power would you expect an a4 car with 3800 converter 1 3/4 pacesetter headers, ls6 intake and basic bolt on car minus ewp to make with the stage 2.5 5.3 heads and a torquer v.3 cam? I would like to see 420 to the rear wheels.

My old car (99 LS1 camaro A4) had a set of patriot stage 2 99 ls1 heads and a tqr v.3 cam with a fast 78mm intake and stock throttle body and made right at 400 hp to the rear wheels. That was also on a stock bottom end. The numbers were ok for a auto car but the car did run exceptionaly stong 7.30s 1/8 mile with 3800 converter and 373 gears at full weight.

I can actually get either set 205 or 225s for the same price. I was told the 225 runners would not work well on a stock ci ls1 because of too large of a intake runner.

PM Willyfastz on here. He runs a shop and installs and tunes a lot of Dart stuff. I know 225cc sounds big for a DD but there is a lot more to it than just port size.

Whoever said that was incorrect. The 225 works just as good as the 205. I have seen numerous dyno results from Futral that will show that. The only difference is the 225 head has more flow at higher lifts, and extends more into the higher lift range. The 205s kind of fall off after .600 lift.

Here are some 225 results:

I do not have the dyno graph posted anymore, but here are my 205 results.

What will replace the Dart 205's? Is the head swap part of an overall power upgrade?
