Do you have to take off heads to replace lifters?
I was curious if there was any way to replace the lifters without taking off the cylinder heads? I am about to do a cam swap and would like to replace my lifters too, but do not want to have to take off the heads. Its on a stock 00 ls1 WS6. thanks

I have 64k on mine with atleast 5k on the cam with the TV3 and I am still running the stock lifters with no problems. I will replace them when I pull the heads but they have been holding up fine with a lot of 6400-6500 rmp shifts.

I'm just throwing this out there but if you have the ***** to do it (not even sure if its possible) you could take the valley cover off and from there you can see the lifters....pull the cam and then use a pen magnet and some skill to get them out and through the holes in the block in the valley. This is probably pretty risky to do though and if you drop them you will have a hell of a time finding them
Ohhh and if you do this and fail dont blame me

If your car has easy miles you can prolly get by with it. If you are gonna pull the heads for lifters it is usually worth it to drop a ported set in their for that $700 labor your paying anyway. IMO if it means save a few months do it. That was my thinking and why I got 5.3's. It never ends and you just gotta draw a line some time and then regroup and decide on the next round,
But you know heads/cam = awesome mod
