Default Flycut piston questions......

I need to flycut my pistons for my new cam, and I have a few questions:

1) How much can you cut a stock piston, and be safe? I would assume even if you didn't cut through it, you could concieveably make it too thin, and prone to damage, correct? So, how much can you take off before its too thin?

2) Does flycutting the pistons make the piston more prone to damage on NOS?

I called LG motorsports today and talked to Lou about this. He said 0.070" would be the max HE would do if you were going to spray. If you’re N/A then you can go more (probably up to about 0.100").

Well, thats good to hear, because I *think* he (LG) said I'd have to cut mine ~ .070

So, .070 should be good, might try NOS once or twice, but 99% of the time be NA, should be safe.

I *think* 2.04 and 1.60 valves, heads will be milled, don't have a final number yet, though.

Bacause to fit a "real" cam, I need valve reliefs, and i'm not tearing apart a perfectly good (3100 mile) shortblock for new pistons just yet. I'll save that for my next motor.

second that.......I am going to build a big bore (re-sleeve the block) some time down to road so I don't want to spend money for forged pistons, only to replace them in a year or so

till then though, my TR224 just isn't big enough for me.....
