Default LQ4 iron heads...

Got these heads when I bought my motor. I checked them and they are in very good condition. I'm looking to sell them but everyone says they are pretty much worthless... hmmmm... Why? I mean they have very similar flow numbers to the LS6 heads, but just made of iron. Could someone fill me in about the performance aspects of these heads if I'm mistaken? If I were to sell them, what would a good price be?

Those heads are not as good as 243 heads, the 317 are. Considering anyone can get 317 for around $200-$400, those iron heads wouldn't go for much. Iron heads will generally store heat in them more so then aluminum heads, which results in a less dense air charge, which equals less power. Plus cast iron is much more difficult to port versus cast aluminum. Just throw them away.

dont throw them away, either make office furniture out of them, or sell em to a scrap yard...at least then they would be worth their weight

x2 for worthless though

There was someone around here that HAD to have a set of iron LQ4 heads for some testing they were doing. I tried searching but couldn't find the thread. Might post in the FS forum and see if you get lucky and that person finds you!

Just wondering how well would these heads do with 15#s of boost on a 370 that was built to handle boost with 8.2:1 compression?

One of my friends has a boosted 8.2:1 compression 355 SBC with 230CC Dart iron heads and with a stand alone system, he claims over 500 rwhp with just 10#s of boost. Uber cool!!!

use alum. easier to come by, not as heavy, remove heat faster...plus they are very cheap. prob the same price as the cast iron ones

Why when the aluminum ones have seen 1000HP (see Parish8 http://www.neufamily.org/truck.html) and a **** load of boost and flow way better!
