Default Can some one give me some compression calculations please?

I will be using a set of PRC stage 2.5 5.3 heads on my stock (54,000 mile) 2002 ls1 with the texas speed torquer v.3 cam with the 111 lsa. The 5.3 heads are unmilled and the valves have not been resessed.
Here are the only specs they give on the cam.
231/234 .643"/.598" 111 LSA
here is the part number on the head gaskets I will e useing 12589227
I want to make sure this thing will be pump gas friendly

Call TSP. They already have this info handy for people like you. They have put together several of their Head/Cam packages and dynoed them in the last 6 months and have all the specs. Your choice of head gasket thickness is going to be needed for a correct answer.

Is that no good? Or will it be ok? I haven't purchased the cam yet.
If thats no good send me over some cam specs for a good cam to run with my mods.
here is whats going on the car.
Its an a4 with 3800 rpm stall
Stock gears for now but will be adding 373s in the future.
25% under drive pulley
Fast 92/92 intake setup with FMS 30lb injectors
PRC stage 2.5 5.3 heads no milling and valves have not been resesed.
I am looking for a cam with a choppy idle like the torquer v.3 cam

Unmilled on a stock gasket you'll be at 10.8:1 SCR. With the TorquerV3 you'll be at 8.3:1 DCR, for whatever that's worth to you.

What about piston to valve clearance? will it have enough piston to valve clearance
Also do you guys have any dyno graphs with a similar setup?

With unmilled heads you will have closer to .070"-.080" clearance, not .060".

There's the first couple I found in the dyno results forum

Matt, I said .06X >.07, I've measured a couple. 1 with your PRC heads 2.04 valves and got .066 on that one (intake), stock graphite Gaskt.
No offence, but there is no way it would be close to .080 with those heads, valves and untouched seats. Maybe you were thinking of TV2 112 LSA

although advertised at 231, the cam will be a tad bigger.

To the OP, yes these margins are widely acceptable by the majority of enthusiasts and still more than bigger cams out there. It is a good cam with plenty power accross the range, nice lope too.

No offense taken, but these heads also aren't 2.04" valves.

Yes, I know TSP revised their 2.04 valves on 2.02 seats and did the right thing by using the 2.02s (To fully reach 2.04 potential aftermarket seats should be used)
Still a 2.02 will not add .01+ clearance (we haven't discussed valve seat thickness depending on the brand you use right now), in any case TV3 is one of your best grinds so OP is making the right choice.
Also keep in mind not all motors are the same, so OP does not know his true piston deck height and that is why I gave a range and not actual figure.

BTW, I like the way you guys made the custom cam order web sheet, very nice for the XFI, LSK and XE-R lobes.

Thanks. I agree it was a nice addition for those who want the PredatorZ custom grind for a good price

yes indeed, I wish I had your testing facilities, that would be a blast.
