Default Did a cam swap. How much end play should there be?

Im putting my motor back together. Today I put in the new cam and timing set. Then I noticed the cam had about .100 of end play in and out, is that normal for a 6.0L block. The original timing chain broke. So im doing a head/cam swap. I have the retainer plate TQ to spec and the new dual timing set in place. Any help would be great.

Thanks, Eric

Could be one of three things.

1. Mis-machined cam such that the undercut on the cam is too deep.

2. Worn cam retainer plate, inspect both sides (although this would be a lot of wear).

3. Mis-machined/wrong upper timing sprocket.

If you mount the stock sprocket, does the clearance problem go away?

I have checked the retainer plate, its seems to be in good shape.

The timing sprocket that was on the car is an aftermarket comp cam single, the one i just installed is a Rollmaster Dual. I have not put the comp one back on to check.

Comp Cams cut the Custom cam for me this last week. How deep should the under cut be?
