personly i think press are better for street mannered cars. I have never seen a pin come loose on a pressed application. but they are a pain if you dont have a tourch and hydrolic press, plus they have alittle more friction. floating are better as far as racing go, because they have less friction. they are easier to install, but i have seen locks on floaters come off alote.

I believe GM has gone back to full floating pins to cut down on piston slap.

The bigger question is whether you trust the stock rod for what you're doing. I'd disagree with spiralox coming out a lot. Every performance engine sold today with forged pistons and H beams uses them and you don't see a mass hysteria about them.

I bought a Mahle piston/Scat rod combo that uses the press fit pins without realizing it is why i'm curious.

Different application, but my last GSXR had floating wrist pins with c-clips. I think one of them came loose and completely destroyed the motor. For that reason I'm no longer a fan of floating wrist pins.

C-clips are much different than spiro-locks. Yes, I have heard of and seen c-clips fail, but have never heard of a spiro-lock failing. In fact, just trying to remove spiro-locks is next to impossible without a special cutter type tool. Back to the topic, I'd agree that floaters are marginally better than press fit, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. I didn't when I bought a set of Scat rods and Speed-Pro forged pistons which are press fit!

I think spiro locks are better/safer, I've actuallly installed and removed those before. IIRC they are simple to remove. All you need is a sharp pick to get them started then work them around.
