227/234 .540/.540 on a 114 lsa! what do i need?
I found this copy cam (regrind) and these are the specs:
227/234 .540/.540 on a 114 lsa
I was wondering what all was needed as far as supplemental part for the cam install. I was going to pick up the beehive springs and some magnum pushrods, what else is needed and will i need a tune? BTW, this is for a 99 6psd.

Springs and pushrods. An LS6 intake if you dont have one already, although a FAST would be nicer. A tune would be in order to. Thats a pretty mild cam,why did you choose it?

I didn't want anything too extreme, just something with a bit more low end power and more of a lopey idle. Would the ls6 yellow springs be sufficient or should i go with behives? I'm just looking for a budget build for now.

ok, sounds good. Would the GM hotcam be a better match for me? I've heard mixed things about it, mainly that it is outdated. I'm really looking fot the best cam under $200... Is it really needed to change the stock pushrods? I've got 60K on the odom.

imo, with any cam swap you should go with hardened pushrods and better springs. + they are around 100 bucks.
go with the 918's.
also, since your car is a 99 you should go with at least a ls6 manifold (if you haven't already)
to really get more ponies out of it... go with 1.8 roller rockers (with that cam) and a fast 90 manifold. just for reference the 1.8's will bring your lift up to .572 for both int/exh.

Forget the hotcam. I would also run dual springs with any aftermarket cam, i mean why not, the price difference isnt that much compared to the time and effort?
Just one guys opinion.

Thanks for all the advice and such. I've been looking around eBay but was wondering where else to get stuff at a good price? Right now i'm looking at $117 for the cam, $174 for springs, $92 for pushrods, $62 for gasket and seal set and $300 for the LS6 intake manifold. Are these good prices?

Those are some good price's. 7.400 pushrods are correct. I second transwiz on doing a LS2 timing chain. And a ported oil pump is good insurance for 165$$ What bolton's do you have right now?

Those are good prices & you've made an excellent choice in a cam for the street. If you can swing it, have the LS6 intake "inlet only" opened up, either by yourself or have it done. No need for a FAST intake for your set-up, spinning up to 6300 RPM. I make great power & torque w/ a similar set-up to yours.
