Default What heads can I run with the MS4?

I don't want to flycut the pistons, am I stuck with the PRC stage 1 LS6 heads, or can I run the stage 2.5 LS6 heads if I throw thicker head gaskets on? Or do the thick head gaskets defeat the purpose of the 2.5 heads? Only reason I dont want to flycut is because of the 150 shot, I want as much material on the pistons as I can get, I dont need any self-cooling pistons with holes in them. Or are there any other heads on the market I can run?
Thanks in advance.

You can run 5.3L PRC with valves recessed, unmilled with stock gasket. Just talk to TSP they will set you up.

Unmilled TFS 215s. The revised Valve angle should give alittle more PTV clearance. You might also be able to have the TFS slightly milled. But I would ask a tech from TFS about that to be sure.

this is the same situation I was in. I wanted to run the 2.5 head from PRC but the MS4 limits the head choices. I'm probably going to wind up doing a 5.3 stg 2.5 with the Torquer V.3

Ya I'd love to run those heads, but the trick flow guys said I'm right on the edge and I should flycut them just to be safe.

really? I figured that tfs heads could safely be used with the extra p-v clearance. How about etp heads?

For the MS4 you can only run the PRC Stage 1 LS6 heads, or the aftermarket castings such as AFR or TrickFlow. We can get you setup with any of these heads at competitive prices and have the tech experience to go along with the sale so you're not led the wrong direction too

How about 5.3L with 2.00/1.55 (intake recessed). Have you guys ever tried that?

For some reason, the 2.00" valve on those 5.3L heads KILLS the flow. We've tried it and never went back again. I liked the theory on paper since you'd get the compression from the 5.3L head, without piston to valve issues. But no-go

What would cause that? after all the stock seats are still 2.02, so where would the 2.00 (stock) hurt the flow by that much? I'm kinda curious since you tried that out.

I've done heads by putting 2.02 (stock seats) Vs 2.00 and all I gained was ~5>7 cfm average at various lifts.

Not sure why really. Jason did extensive testing on valve size testing in our various cylinder heads and he said he was very unhappy with that 2.00" valve in the 5.3L head, so we never have offered that valve in this head because of it.

What about the new PRC 215 head that TSP has coming out soon. I think it has 61cc chambers with stock PTVC. I would wait for these IMO. I think I read ETA for X-mas.

Yes, they like the other aftermarket castings listed will offer more P to V clearance than the stock head setup!
