Default Edlebrock cover fouls oil pump

Hi guys, i fitted my Edlebrock two piece cover yesterday, but it was not straight forward! It would not clear the oil pump so i was lucky to have access to a milling machine so i could machine it thin enough to clear...But WTF!?

Is your oil pump spaced out? I had to grind on my stock cover to clear the pump with the shims behind it.

I had the same problem had to grind inside of cover for clearance even went to button head bolts on the oil pump, my pump is a SLP. took a lot of grinding!!

hmm, anyone else have issues with this.. i may rethink getting that cover. i do want a 2 peice cover so i dont have to take my steering apart again if i ever want to go back to stock or go with a diff cam. i may just live with having to grind it... still probably beats the extra labor involved with a regular cover on the c5's

It sucks the bag that so many aftermarket parts don't f-ing fit. Where's the craftsmanship? The quality? The pride in manufacturing? It seems like too many companies make cost-cutting concessions and end up producing a part that ALMOST fits.

Oh well, I guess it's better than nothing.....or is it? I wish I still had access to a full shop. After what I've seen, I'd be making my own stuff or have it made locally.

/end rant

Will it fit with single chain and Melling 296 oil pump? Looks like it may be a problem with the Melling pump and a single Cloyes Chain....

i cant say for certain. id tell you to call edelbrock but you wont get through.
on hold forever, then asked to leave a message, or on hold forever and then you just get disconnected because everyone in this dept is busy...
i have bad luck with them.

I have a single row Comp chain, and standard pump, it was just too thick at the bottom where it is against the sump gasket. If i did not have access to all the machinery i would have been Fecked! Taking the engine out to remove the front pulley again was a real highlight..

That is why we designed our cover the way we did. We made the lower portion to fit a larger pump. I know ours is more expensive but its a Billet CNC part. if anyone has any questions feel free to call us.

I've heard of many issues with that Edelbrock Cover..I wonder if someone has got smart and tried to modify a stock one..
