Default How do you swap crank reluctor wheels

I'm looking for the procedure on how to swap crank reluctor wheels on these motors. The GM service manual says to replace the crank if the wheel needs replacement but I know people have done 58x to 24x conversions many times on here. I know there is a conversion box coming out to resolve this but I already have a new 24x wheel and need to swap out the 58x one on the new motor I have. Seems like it is press fit to the crank. Thanks.

u will need various tools to do it correct, i have done it b4, but i recommend u have qualified, lsx specific engine builders or machine shops that deal heavily with lsx engines. it will be a hassle if u have no prior exp. and dont have the correct tools

I jsut saw a new tool to help install the wheel, it used the pin on the crank to correctly index the wheel. I only wish I could rememnber who markets it and which mag I saw it in.

But as Nemess said, I'd leave it to the michine shop to handle it correctly.

when it is put on it needs to be heated to 450 degrees(your wifes oven.). with the tool it clocks it and the depth is just to the edge of the crank. level with it. if it is off more than 20 thousanths it will send a check engine code, but it can be tuned in the pcm. the goodson part number is rrj-350.

I have a dial indicator with a base and precision measuring tools but I just didn't realize it was that involved of a process to do. Thanks for the input.

It's still possible to use all the correct alignment equipment and install the wheel upside down. Another vote for leaving it to the experts.
