Stock rocker VS Aftermarket
Hey everyone, i read through the FAQ's and couldn't figure out my answer so...
Ok, I have built a 383 Stroker 5.7 LS1, i am running the a new MS4, with new patriot performance heads stage 2 59 cc heads, so the entire engine is new, i was going to run my old stock rockers with my new set up but i don't think running rockers with 125k miles on a brand new motor is a good idea, so my questions are
My Car was a 99 SS with a LS1 not LS6
1. What is the stock rocker ratio? I'm thinking 1.8 but i heard 1.75 is
2. Is there any performance gains on expensive aftermarket rockers over a stock set?
3. Can I run a Comp Cams Pro Magnum 1.75 rocker on my set up,
and last would my best bet be to just get a set of new stock rockers and leave well enough alone?
thanks so much.....

Rocker ratio is 1.7 Don't change it or you seriously limit your cam choices.
I would Be very tempted to send the stockers off to Harland Sharp for a $260 rebuld. They come back upgraded and you never have to worry about them puking needle bearings.
If you shop around for another $150 bucks you can find some YT Ultralites

Stock rocker ratio is 1.7-someone correct me if Im wrong. As far as performance gains I don't know If you'll gain much power, the purpose of the roller rockers seems to be more to ge the valve train geometry correct. Most of the aftermarket cams dont work to well with 1.8 rockers due to high ramp rates of the cam lobes.
The stockers are fine, about the only thing you can do to improve them is send them to harlan sharp to have the bearings rebuilt for better reliability/longevity. How much are you able to spend on them? If you absolutely must have an aftermarket set and have the cash the Jesel shaft mounted system is very nice!
EDIT: Ah you beat me to it!
