RoyalPurple 500FT. TQ. 6 EZ STEPS
OK I hoped everyone could give me ideas to replicate th ht 383 buildup in ls1 form with off the shelf parts and low octane gas. http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/e...up/step_4.html
i have a stock 2000 ls1 and hope to basically use:
1 stroker kit 2 cam (210/218 112 l/s ???) 3 2 1/2 true duals (no headers as they wont fit) stock heads and intake
Please help lead me to a cam choice,a stroker kit for stock heads, and dyno numbers exp low down. id love to see desk top or real world.
In summation i hope to best the ht383's 450 ft lbs tq at 2,500 is it possible and how close can i get?
Thank You Everyone that can help Me
Tim
P.S. this is for a 4,600 lb jeep h.p. doesnt matter much

Its not gona happen with a cam that small and without headers. Jason from thunder built a 383 about 2-3 years ago using TSP 5.3 heads and was in the 500rw range. Do a search in the dyno section and you should find it.

don't think its gonna happen.
while the ls1 can make good power, its gonna be hard to make that much at that low o f an rpm.
is a supercharger out of the question? i've seen some dyno numbers on the magnachargers that make impressive torque down low.

If you want to maximize torque @ 2,500 RPMs, the 210/218 112 cam is too big (too much duration). The cam in the 383HT engine is about 196/206 110 as I recall. I'm currently running a custom 200/206 109 to maximize low end to mid-range torque. The highest torque off the shelf cam that Comp offers for the LS series is a 206/212 112 (P/N: 54-408-11).
Much of the cam selection advice that you'll get on this forum (or most any performance forum) is biased toward peak HP above 6,000 RPMs. Intake lobes larger than 208 degrees @ .050" will not maximize torque on a NA engine.

This 500 Tq is rated at the Engine NOT rearwheel. Donaimian i cant seem to find Jasons post. The popular 220/224 on 110 L.S. really look nice on paper but as Steve Bryant was so kind to point out its too much as may be a 210/218 for LOW end tq.
Steve do You have any dyno or other info about Your cam to share?

jeepfun tj,
Take a look at post 11 in this thread http://www.performancetrucks.net/for...d.php?t=365972. Sorry that I didn't see your question earlier.
