Default is it ok to drive with a bad 02 sensor??

i just had my lifters changed and when they were getting changed the 02 sensor was accidentally dropped into the pan full of coolant. now the car is sputtering at low rpms and feels like its running really rich to the point of flooding out. above 2000 rpm the car runs better but still feels a little funny, i am assuming i fubar'd my sensor but would it hurt my car to drive it to a shop thats 20 miles away to get it scanned and checked?

thanks ls1tech guys.

Assuming that the heads and lifters were installed properly and theres no issues with either, I wouldn't take any chances and just borrow someones car, or get a ride to the nearest parts store and buy another O2 sensor and swap it out. If it was running fine before the O2 was dropped into the coolant, then chances are its messed up.

bad 02 sensor will send the car into close loop and will run rich as hell. I'd change it out

If you droped it in coolant than the o2 is deffentaly screwed those things are very sensative to chemicals. I'd just go buy a new one and go from there.

I just got mine fixed after several months. Only downside is that it will only run in open loop so fuel mileage might suffer and my idle was shitty after decelerating.

I didn't realize the O2s were located next to the lifters. I guess they put mine in the wrong place.
