Default Aftermarket lifters

when are they necessary and what kinds are there out there??

I'm changing heads again and having a few other things done and was considering getting new/better lifters also...

any recommondations??? I have 50k miles on my 383 stroker and they havn't exactly been easy miles.

I replaced mine when one of them failed... what caused the failure I still haven't ever determined.

My car had 65k miles on it when it happened.... most of which were pretty hard

It would cetainly not hurt you to change them. Comp makes 2 differant an OEM replacment and the Comp-R lifters. Crane makes some also, a couple others too that are quite pricy and difficult to setup. The Comp-R`s are an excelant upgrade and would be good for your combo.

what exactly is the difference between the Comp R's and the Comp OEM replacements? (besides price)

the "R" lifters are designed to handle a "bigger" cam...the pressure can be handled better by the "r" lifters...too much spring pressure and the stock ones will collapse...
