The "recipe" to 500 rwhp with heads and cam

Suggested reading. Patrick gives all the details, what you lose if you cut a few corners, etc. It's not cheap to get there, but it's certainly possible IF you adhere to the "recipe".

Also, if streetability is a huge concern, more displacement makes it much easier to get there. Whether through additional cubic inches or forced induction, it takes air to make horsepower.

there is a considerable difference when trying for 450rwhp and trying for 500rwhp.

450 is attainable with a decent cam, good heads and bolt ons.

500 needs everything in the book and some specially designed parts to maximize the setup.

unless you go FI or stroker.

ms3 is a good start.

now get the best heads you can afford, get compression up (possibly flycut) and put a ported FAST on it.

a good dyno tune and you should be there.

what's the rest of your driveline like? things like stock clutch and rear end won't hold up long to 450rwhp.

^^ people always forget about the driveline there so stuck on #'s....its better to have less and get the thing to hook and not break than to go for the big #'s

are you a M6 or an auto ? lets say your an M6 i would def. have a 12 bolt ready and a stronger clutch and hydr. if your an auto your rear will last for a little .... also i would recommend a torque arm with that power ..

So true...but its boring to realize that for the same prize you could gain big hp...thats why I dont want to invest on a rear end

You should probably get that checked out. It could be a couple of things, mine never fully stuck to the floor but it was hesitant and just needed a new Master cylinder. I'd get it looked at.

The MS3 is a great start, any longtube headers will do you justice. american race headers (ARH) would be my vote but they are quite pricey. As far as exhaust i'd look at going at a full 3" true dual setup, give you the most hp possible. I believe texas speed makes a true dual setup.

I'm no car or f-body guru but if you have any questions feel free to send me a PM. Sponsors will be your best friend on here and are very helpful!!
