Default How to clean a rusty cam?
What is the best way to clean a cam that has a little rust in between the lobes?

scotch brite and solvent is what I have used with great success. By solvent I'm talking about the stuff in a parts cleaner.

I put mine on the polishing wheel of my bench grinder. It looks better than brand new. Just use some Tripoli on it also when you polish. Got off all the surface rust. Just make sure there isn't any pitting on the lobe surfaces.

maybe even a little WD-40 with a brass brush??? should work pretty well. Just don't use a steel brush.

Navel Jelly will take anything off metal and typically won't destroy the metal. S'how I fixed up my WW2 bayonet my grandpa picked up during the war
