I think you'll be ok on stock heads... may be worth it to check PTV though.

You should be ok. It's pretty close to the same spec's of the T-Rex and it's ok with stock heads.

with a cam this size on stock heads are the gains not as high? would it be better to do this cam with aftermarket heads?

the trex and other similar cams clear but do they have .080" or more clearance ? only real way is to measure but most are quite a bit below .080" not much room for error. some have had those monsters in and ran for quite a while with no issues but some didn't.

its always gonna benefit you to do aftermarket heads.

you'll still see good gains from a big cam though. but its kindda like a "diminishing returns" thing.

a mild cam will gain you 30hp over stock...370-380rwhp
a moderate cam will gain you another 15hp over that...380-395rwhp
a BIG cam will gain maybe another 5-10 on top of that...395-405rwhp

even monster cams barely get much over the 410-415rwhp range....although it has been done...but whose to say thats not from a little dyno magic

but as the cam gets bigger...the same set of heads will gain power in the reverse manner.

realize these are all general numbers.
