Arrow Need your advise can oil leak between the head and block pics

Can oil leak between the heads and the block or through the head gasket I am in the middle of changing my trans and after pulling the headers noticed some oil stains between the heads and block I do not know if it is the head gaskets or valve cover gaskets I recently change the head gaskets since I did a cam swap I went ahead and changed them the car runs great no smoking the oil seems clean and I do not notice any decrease in oil but have not been driving it much since the trans went out I have only been turning the car on an letting it idle for 30 minutes twice a week I will post pics shortly thanks any advice is appreciated

I'm pretty sure you'd have coolant not oil if it were the head gaskets.

The valve cover gaskets are pretty far away from the head gaskets. Is the oil stains you see above the head gaskets? If so, I'd say your valve cover gaskets are probably the issue. If the heads are clean below the valve covers gaskets, its probably not them.

I would clean the surface first and ensure it is actually leaking from there. It could be from before the gasket change. Oil from the cylinder heads would drip down from the valve spring area back into the block, so yes it is possible.

looks to me like the Valve cover gaskets?

On the last picture I see a shiny film coming from the bottom of the valve cover and the top of the head!

That is what I was thinking but in real life it looks different but with the pic is really clear.

BUT IS IT POSSIBLE FOR OIL TO LEAK FROM THE HEAD GASKETS? IF YES HOW?

If it were smoking a lot, the engine wouldn't fire, as the combustion would shootout from the head gasket area. It can seep slowly from there if the head is warped or the gasket was pinched. You have a valve cover gasket leak, buy new ones, apply a light coat of engine oil and torque them down to specs. You should be good to go.

^^Agreed. That looks to be coming from higher up, and I would bet on the VC gaskets.
