Default Best Springs?

Anyone know what the best springs would be for the TR230 or the X1 cam? I've looked and looked at specs on springs, but does anyone have first hand info at what springs would be best? Changing springs once a year or whatever isnt a problem, just let me know which springs have enough pressure to keep the lifters on the cam with very aggressive lobes. thanks guys

We've had incredible feedback and usage out of the EX-616's that Combination sells.
Not to mention they're still running a special on the spring/titanium retainer/lock kit.
$199.97

When I was thinking about running the TR230 in my car, Jason from Thunder Racing suggested the comp 918's. He said he ran them with the TR230 all the way to 7,000rpm. When I ended up going with the TSP 231/237 I installed the 918's and they have been working great.

Comp 978's would work great if your spring pocket has beeen cut for bigger springs.

How about the new Comp Cams 26921 Dual Springs (good up to .650" lift and required no machining)?

As gomer mentioned, I had very good luck with the Comp 918s/772 Ti. retainers with the TR230 cam, both with stock heads and GTP stage 2s. I would look into those, as well as the new Comp 921s. These are a dual "beehive" spring that fit in the stock spring pocket. The only downside to them is the price.

We will be installing a set of GTP stage 2s and the TR230 cam in a car using the new Comp 921s next week.
