Just installed a new cam, now knocking and stalling
Hey guys, I just got done installing a LS1 Hotcam, LS6 Springs, SLP Double Roller Timing Chain, and a SLP High Volume Oil Pump in my '01 SS. It fired up great on first startup, ran for a few minutes, then we shut it down. A couple minutes later we tried to start it again, now it is knocking and seems like a misfire. So, I changed the plug wires and noticed that 7 and 8 were very loose while taking them off. Now I have another known good set of wires on it and still having the same issue. I also noticed that if I remove the oil filler cap after it runs for a minute or so, there is a slight amount of white smoke coming from the filler neck. It also threw a pending P0300 random/multiple cylinder misfire code. Anyone had this problem or have any suggestions as to what to check? Any help is appreciated!!

I don't think it's a pushrod because it starts fine at first but then after it's ran for a few minutes and you shut it off and try to restart it, then it makes the noise.
I have now done a little playing around though and did the PCM Relearn Procedure and then leaving it sit for a couple minutes and starting it up again. Still had the same result with the knock and stall. Then I waited a few seconds and cranked it over again but this time pushed the gas pedal just the slightest bit as to allow just a little more air in and it stayed running and the knock dissappeared. I held it at about 800 RPM and it idled ok and stayed running.
Does this mean that I need to drill out the idle hole in the throttle body or can this be fixed with a tune?

You need a tune. The car runs as long as its in open loop but when it warms up and tries to idle down to stock idle, the cam is too inefficient to keep the engine running.

I knew i would need a tune, but will opening the hole in the throttle body blade help until i can get a tune? I'm being told that cammed cars should have a 7/32" hole.
