Anyone use Amsoil?
Motor, trans, rear end?
Good and bad qualities?

From what I can tell, Amsoil is the best oil for protecting parts... but as far as making more power goes, I believe most high end winston cup level shops are using Royal Purple, Mobil 1, and Red Line.

Amsoil is an excellent oil, definitely one of the best. It shows very consistent oil analysis results, and can definitely last for long drain intervals (although 25,000 miles is definitely pushing it too far in most cases, so I wish they wouldn't advertise their oil as a 25k oil)

Even though Amsoil's 10w30 has a really good pour point, you're always better off going with 5w30 (or even 0w30!) for the cold weather, since it will flow much faster on startup in extreme cold. You don't say where you live though so I don't know how cold it gets in your area. I would say if you see lower than 10F on occasion, make sure you've got 5w30 in there, as for sure you'll see lower engine wear over 10w30 in that kind of weather.

The reason why I ask is a sponsor sent me 10w30 instead of the 5w30 I asked for (ugh) and I'm not going to deal with sending it back, it's a full case, just woundering how usefull it'll be, I think I am going to do a change soon with 5w-30 and save the case for next summer

Best oil out there in my opinion. Fathers been using it for years and years. Ive used it in my 300zx, Supra TT, and camaro forever. My LS1 hasnt burned any oil or any type of bad signs. Been in the engine since I tore it down. Supra and 300zx, no problems there any, perfect.

Father uses it in his 85 ford diesel, he changes oil over 2 years or little over a year, I cant remember. He pulled the valve covers off one day, clean as a whistle, no build up or anything.

I will use it for rest of my life.

With Michigan's cold winters, I'd definitely save the 10w30 for summer and go with 5w30 or 0w30 for the winter months.
