Default Cam Installed, Runs like ****...

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this NEWB QUESTION, but i want to be sure.

I just installed my TR230/224 cam and at low rpms (sub-1500) it bucks and surges like a sonofabitch. also, any time i start the car or come down to idle, it really wants to die and i feel like i have to nurse it to keep it alive before it finally finds its idle. i'm getting it tuned on tuesday and i just want to know if the tune should take care of this? thanks for helping out a newb...

Definitely a tune will take care of it... thats a good size cam for a stock tune to handle.. you will pick up a lot more power too..

Yup, need a tune, if it were a small cam, you could get away with it, but not a 230/224

Ok thanks guys... that's exactly what I thought but you know how it is when you start wondering if maybe it's something more serious.

do you have tuning software? it probably doesnt have enough timing down low for the new cam. and the throttle crack could probably use some opening to the .7-1.0 range with idle air intake of about 10-11.

I don't have any tuning software, but I go to a very reputable tuner who spends lots of time perfecting everything. I'm not worried at all because I know that's all it needs, I just needed to hear other people tell me the same thing lol.

That's odd, my tr230 found idle right away and ran okay. Def didn't need to nurse it. You will see a big difference with a tune. I'm an m6 and i have the idle set at 825 rpms.
