Default Thinking about switching to a different oil in the 408

I have around 6k miles on my 408. I dont have any problems with it and it put down 515rwhp on the dyno. I am using mobil 1 5w30 since I put the motor in. I have been leaning toward the GC 0w30 or the royal purple. Just wanted some input on this.

I've used GC for about 4 years and 40K miles and I wont use anything else. Very low if any oil consumption compared to others I have used in the past,Mobil 1,royal purple, ams oil....

Whatever you do just don't go RP - sludge city. M1 is always a safe bet... I just switched to PP 5w30 - quieted down the engine a little no complaints. M1 always served my engine well for its first 116k miles (still running strong).

I would say AMSOIL. used it my t/a have no complaints at all. did amsoil in a couple of friends cars/trucks and fixed some of there problems. i also had bad luck with royal purple. might be the shops fault on that one.

I've run RP for a while and it was very clean when I tore the engine down. No sludge, no build up. I will run RP XRP in the new engine.

Whats the reason for changing? Have you ever had an oil analysis done?

Off the top of my head....

Mobil1 - ~$96AUS for 5 litres
CastrolEdge - ~$51AUS for 5 litres

Add $25AUS for a K&N oil filter and its an expensive oil change

None of the above......

Pennzoil Platinum 10w-30 and Amsoil EaO32 oil filter. In Dyson UOA's over the past 6 years, it's outperformed RP Racing 21, Redline 5w-30, and Mobil 1 5w-30 under daily driving and road course conditions.
