Default 6.0L truck motor

I messed up the LS1 thats in my vette and im going to swap motors. My buddy has a 6.0L truck motor that he wants to sell me and im not too sure about it. Is there any good reason people get the 6.0L truck blocks over any LS blocks? Im new to all this stuff and I have no clue....

iron block, it can take a beating and can be bored out easily unlike the aluminum blocks. I have a thread started as well, wondering about what heads to use and whatnot.

I'm pretty sure a 2001+ lq4 with aluminum heads will bolt up to your t56 or auto no problem... there is an issue with the 99-00? lq4's having a longer crank which prohibits it matching to a newer tranny. I need someone to confirm though, that if the lq4 has aluminum heads in 2001 that it will match up.

But if you have money to spend there is a lot of power to be made from these engines.

Did you notice the weight? I have an LS2 intake, ported &polished LS6 heads, and an MS4 so i hope it will work out well.

the 6.0 will bolt right in to your vette, need to use your acc., pulley, intake and manifolds.

The LQ4 has dished pistons and less compression than the LQ9. You can get more cubes out of the truck motors than the LS1 and it's pretty cheap, that's why a lot of people use them. That's probably what i'll go for when my motor gives out.

unless your road racing i cant see the extra 80 pounds is really going to matter. and look at it this way. with a 4 inch bore stock or larger if you bore it, you can run l92 heads (ls3) and l76 intake and make sick sick power with a cam for cheap! if its the dished pistons though id definately tear it down and replace those and the rings/bearings at the same time. hell id just go ahead and buy a 402 rotating assembly and be done with it all LOL...
