new cam suggestions..
hey guys i have an 00 TA with the mods in sig. i plan on gettin a set of headers before i buy a cam. my car is a weekend playtoy that will see a couple of track passses a year. i want a cam that has sick idle.. even if that means sacrificing a little power. i'm not putting heads on it right now. with less than 60k miles i dont want to tear into it that much yet. so which cam would be the best for my setup? i plan on getting a dyno tune immediately after the install.

give mikey from straightline performance a call, he just got me setup with a custom grind 238/242 at .600/.609 @112 and that is somewhat for a daily. take a look at this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFm32odXCGw

you need a rear end first, period.
if you do go with an ms4 you will need pushrods of course dual springs ported oil pump ls2 timing chain and that is the minimum along with a tune..
you would benefit a lot from an ls6 intake and a ton with a ported 9090 or regular 9090..
i think you need to think about what you want some more, and what it will be used for.. where you want power... how.. how much.. when.. what kinda heads you will be going with.. do you roll race or dig race.. 1/8 or 1/4... future power adders..

my car will definitely see way more street time than track time. i would like to make power to about 6500 rpms. i plan on keeping the stock heads and intake for now. i roll race and dig race.. no power adders in the near future. so basically i guess what i want is a good all around street cam with a rough idle.

i'm aware of the rearend requirements. i'm just waiting for the mushroom cloud from the rearend before i get a new one. as far as the pushrods, springs, timing chain, oil pump are concerned i was just assuming that was a given when doing a cam swap correctly and had planned on it already.

would be WELL worth the LITTLE bit of extra money spent..

not ms3.. but ms4..
this is my car on a cold start.. it was 30 degrees outside and i had just started my car... she was idling at about 1200rpms.. when she is warms she drops down the 950 and idles MUCH harder..

the ms3 and ms4 are going to sound VERY close..

i would not go with an ms4 or trex because they are so radical cams.. very hard on valve train.. ms3 is almost as big but not quite there.. you will be very happy with it and a good tune..
also, ms4 and trex will cut down on your head options in the future unless you flycut..

Launching!
Honestly, getting a Torquer V.2 on a 112 Lsa sounds pretty nasty, itself. However, the Torguer 2 peaks out around 6500 rpms...so that'd be closer to your plans. imo....

yeah i dont want too radical lol.. i think the ms3 might do the trick.. i think that one peaks at 6800. are bigger injectors or better fuel pump required for a cam upgrade?

i may be able to get a set of ls6 heads for pretty cheap. would they be worth the extra effort when i have it all torn down? if i do put those on i'll be getting a new intake as well.
