Default Bent pushrod?

I've got a 01 z28 m6 30000 miles, when I get on it and run it up to about 4200-4300rpms I get like a octane ping. I all ways run 93octane. Before I put hypertech and the stat in, it made the sound around 5000rpms. I bought a set of chrome moly pushrods by Manley do you think this will solve the problem?

Try removing the HPPIII power programming and just leave the reprogrammed fan settings. I know that after installing my HPPIII I gained some pinging under part throttle. I would not jump to the pushrods just yet. I would not think that with those miles that pushrods are to blame. Now if something happened to lead you to believe that the pushrods are at fault then change them and go from there.

The only mods I have done are a G2 lid with a K&N filter and throttle body bypass.

did you de-screen MAF or port it??? it will lean you out real bad...and you will ping like a MF!!!

and bent pushrods would be evident at all rpms....
I think its detonation you are hearing...

and the new pushrods are a definate plus...but I do not believe thay will help your noise..

It sound like someone let some marbles go inside your engine(not good) . Whatever you do just make sure that your car always has plenty of fuel.
the alternative could make you .
good luck.

I was under the impression that you really didn't want to use chrome moly pushrods unless you upgrade the springs to support the more rigid valvetrain. I kinda looked at it as that the pushrods were the safety link in the valve train to protect the more expensive and harder to replace components... thoughts? Soundengineer in particular. (BTW, this isn't intended as a flame)

What he said. If you miss shift you'll probly bend the pushrods and valves may be ok. Otherwise your looking at bent valves. I had a pushrod break without bending the valve(compression is ok). Be sure to install stronger springs with those pushrods.

I don't believe you have to change the springs to run chromoly pushrods! The proper springs are based on cam profiles, which don't take into account any pushrod flex.

It is true however that on an M6 car the pushrods can save you if you are prone to missing shifts - one reason I drive an automatic

Just my 2 cents. I run Chromoly pushrods on mine with stock springs.
