GM bringing GEN IV to the SEMA show NOV 5 in Las Vegas....
In less than 20 days we will all see what the new GEN IV small block is all about...
GM will have a question/answer event at this SEMA show on the new GEN IV...
Maybe someone from LS1tech.com can get a press pass for the show , & ask some simple questions...
Questions like, will the FAST intake bolt up, how much to mill the heads for 11 to 1 compression, any stroker kits in the works, will this engine bolt in to my F-body...
GEN IV will be in the 2005 Corvette & light duty trucks/suv....
GEN IV technology is all about MORE power, with better fuel economy...
The new 3 valve GEN IV engines are coming in 2006, & will fit in all cars/trucks that have the 2 valve engines...
So, the 8 year run of our GEN III LS1/LS6 will be going into the history books...
Damm, my LS1 is old technology already !!!!!!!!
Anyone going to the SEMA show ???
Dave

Boy, just wait for the aftermarket develop stuff for this one....more expensive parts.
Maybe I should start developing stuff for this...get in on the action early. I guess we'll see.

All signs so for point to the Gen 4 being an evolution of the Gen 3 rather than a all new engine.
My bet is that the reciprocating assemblies will be interchangeable.

I agree with Heretic
From the stuff thats been posted on the engine and articles I have read it looks most of the innovations are at the top half of the engine.

Very cool. I'll be at the show and will check it out. I assume that it will be at the Chevy display, true?
Thanks for the heads up.

The Gen IV is a 3 valve head, and I dont know if you guys have looked in our engine bays, but the 3rd valve is kinda pushed towards the outside bottom of the head. (when installed) Makes the valve covers look droopy.
Anyone here seriously think a Gen IV is gonna fit in an Fbody without serious BFH work?

1BDHWK,
Can you try and get some additional information on what GM needs before they can start introducing the direct injection engines? Most of the GM technical bulletins on the new Gen of engines includes direct injection and I believe the sulfur content of gas in the US is currently too high to allow these engines to be released in vehicles.

The gen IV will bolt up to the gen III. AFIK the 6.3L in the gen IV will have the alum block just with a longer stroke. This is privvy, so SHHHHHH!!! I would like to know about the direct injection and ability to run higher CR with it as well as the displacement on demand stuff. I am going to PRI and trying to get to SEMA
