Default Help! 6.0 or 5.7 LS1!!?!?!?!?

I have a 2001 GMC truck with a 6.0 in it already. Motor has 236000 on it so it needs rebuilt or replaced soon! My dilema is to stick with the 6.0 or swap to the LS1. I know the 6.0 is based on the LS1 but I don't know how many hop up parts swap over or the cost of the parts vs the LS1.

Am I better off sticking with my 6.0 or will the lighter weight and mainstreem use of the LS1 be a better way to go?

Just to let you know, My plan is a near factory rebuild, mild performance mods. I plan to run 150+ shot of juice at the track.

Many LS1 guys are switching to the 6.0 iron block and stroking to 408...especially with a nitrous shot! I would stick with what you have!

Ok then where do I find a stroker kit? is the 408 with a over bore too?.

Also would a set of LS1 heads be a good thing to look for down the road when I have some more money?

A lot of the vendors on here offer them like Texas Speed. Might also try and PM 99Blancoss and talk with him about options also.

Does anyone have experience with any of the companies that make the stroker kits? I have set my mind on that I am going to stroke it hopefully this winter. I have talked to Texas Speed and they seemed really intelligent and helpfully. Is anyone better? The lowest cost will help me since my money is hard earned and hard to come by for my toys. But at the same time I don't want to do it twice by buying crappy components.
