Cam / Springs question
Brief history....
I did a ls6 swap on my 02 camaro (243 heads and cam off of a 04z06).
Question:
Was wondering if i could run a larger cam with the stock 243 heads as they stand with the orange springs that are in there.
I know it is a newbie tech question.... this is why i value LS1Tech.

Reason why i ask is cuz i did not know if there was a tolerance that i should fall within. Kinda like if a .565 lift would be too close to the .570 and if a better spring would be better in that case or as long as I dont go over .570 i am surely going to be fine with it.

12. 03+ LS6 springs(orange): max lift ~.580
Above was pulled from the sticky in this section.

I've tried searching and come up with 12586484.
There is a note mentioning these are okay to 0.570"

There is more to picking a valve spring than the max lift it is rated for. LS6 springs are only 90 lbs at 1.8 and I think 270 lbs at max lift. Plus everyone thinks that because they are GM springs that they never break. I've see 3 broken yellow springs on 3 different stock Z06 Vettes. Get a set of PAC 1218s or 1518s for any cam upgrade if you want to stay with a beehive spring.

So what you are saying is "dummy while you are in there spend the extra $ and do it right by getting springs that are the least likely to fail"
This is the type of answer i was looking for. So it would be stupid of me to even think about keeping the stock ls6 springs no matter what?
