swapping heads...853s to 243s? couple quesstions

Default swapping heads...853s to 243s? couple quesstions

what is needed?

other than..

heads
head gaskets (mls ones work)
head bolts


i ask, because i just had my lifters replaced, no joke, like 3 days ago, and i just got a good deal on some ls6 heads...

i would need to get new gaskets and head bolts huh? cus like i mentioned they have been on the car 4 days now....about 20 miles on them only.../

Yeah, unless you bought ARP bolts or studs they'll have to be replaced. The stock type bolts stretch to achieve the proper final torque, so they're trash after one use. You may get away with it; but I would'nt want to chance it. I also wouldn't want to try and reuse the head gaskets. They may seal or they may not. I'd just get new ones and go at it! Good luck!

Yeah I agree. You'd be pissed if you blew the head gasket a week later if you tried to reuse it. Like he said stock head bolts are trash after one use.

fawk, another 100 bucks in gaskets/bolts LOL shoulda waited, to damn impatient

Sucks! I know same thing happened to me at one point and had to buy another set of head gaskets after a being on for 2 days only!

u would need new gaskets, and i like to use arp head bolts. ive reused them up to 3 seperate times on rebuilds. not sure about anymore than that.

Gaskets & bolts. I would do head studs.
