Default What to do to build a Forged Shortblock

Hey guys,

Well I'm building a motor on the stand for my Camaro.

Build is going to be a 347, G5X3, and AFR 205's and a 100-150 shot of N2O.

Now I am lost on what to do with the bottom end:

What pistons would you suggest that are flat-top with 2-4 cc valve reliefs?
Do I need Clevite H Main and Rod bearings?
What do I have to do to the stock crank to get it setup for the new motor? (turned etc?)
Should I bust for ARP head studs or are ARP head bolts good enough?

Thanks,
Billy

If its on a stand I would pull the crank and get new main bearings and have them line honed. Then have the machine shop ballance the rotating assembly, and hone the cylinders. I would spend the $$$ and get arp main cap and head studs, Also get some forged rods while your in there. Most of the time if the stock crank is in good shape the machine shop can polish the journals. I have mahle forged pistons that are flat top with -4cc relief. http://mycarpics.shutterfly.com/193

When they hone the cylinders, they can take it to a 347 correct?

Yes. Check out all the sizes for the "347" size. http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/cate...MID=1&catid=38Give these specs to the machine shop so they have a final hone size to stay in. Also a with forged rods and pistons you should be able to up the NO2 to a 200 shot.

For daily/driveability purposes I'm going with a smaller shot so that I don't have to run a Hellfire ring with a huge gap...

Thanks for the "347" info btw.

Do you guys reccommend the Clevite H bearings? I know that you cannot run the Clevite P bearings on anything but stock rods right?

Thanks
