Default custom grind vs. shelf cam

is it worth the gains? i'm looking for a cam for my car. it will be a lq4 swapped t/a and i'm gonna run the stock 6.0 longblock but wanna do a cam in it.

first of all i've been understood that a cam ment for the ls1 will work for the 6.0 lq4 block is that correct? or do i need to start looking at different cams?

and second, should i order a custom grind for my setup which consists of boltons ls6 intake and stock 6.0 heads for the time being. i'm either looking at the torquer v.2 or v.3 cam from texas speed and not sure what route i wanna go. i tried calling them but i just missed them for the day so i figured i'd ask around on here.

i would like to have something that is choppy at idle is a good driver on the streets as i still daily drive it somewhat and to take it up to the cabin occasionally in the summer. so i don't want to loose my drivablility out of it but want a stout setup that would respond well with some spray on it as well.

any suggestions welcome or if the sponser chimes in that would be killer

thanks,
jeremy

a custom cam can be custom made for your specific mods and applications...if you would like to ask a professional, look for patrickG.

fellow minnesotan here if your looking for a custom cam call up hitech motor sports in anoka and talk to brian he spec'd my cam for me and did a great job! there actually a sponsor so you can look at the website. just give him a call tell him what you want to do and what your goals are and he will set you straight.

i went with a 222/224 .535 .581 112 its very street friendly and my goals were to hit 400 rwh with ls6 intake, long tubes, 3'' duals and a tune. i just got a mail order tune but come summer i will be getting it tuned at hitech so i will know the actual numbers. they are a very reputable shop though, good people too.

... i cant seem to find the link under the sponsor list maybe there not a sponsor anymore?

Jeremy, stay away from No-tech. They copy others cams and they dtill don't perform as well as the originals. A lot of of the shelf cams started off as customs. Like others said, talk to patrick g or Mark (PREDATOR z).

yeas i wanna see 400-420. i plan on going with a texas speed cam just not sure what way i wanna go. i really like the v.3 torquer just gotta see some numbers or see if i should go with a custom grind. 222/224 sounds pretty decent but i'm thinking about going somewhere around 230/230 somethin. we'll see. 112-111 rsa would be sweet

There are a ton of cams in the 230ish range.

All vendors will have a cam marketed in this range, FMS-112/113, vrx4, TR230, TSP228r, the list goes on.

IF you want custom, search for "el torro" it's a custom grind from Predator-Z. Or contact PatrickG.

for 25$ why not have a cam custom spec'd for your exact goals and setup? the price of the cam is going to be about the same and so is the lead time. I ordered mine and had a week later my .02 cents
