Don't you have to shim the YT rockers,

to get the correct pre-load IIRC?
If you've done that they shouldn't be any noisier than any other type.

Though it might depend on the cam you are running them with(!)

I believe you shim to get the proper wipe pattern. Preload is accomplished with the pushrod length.

From other installs I've always heard if shimmed properly and preload set with right pushrod size they're actually quieter than stock. But like I said that's what I've read and taken from other installs.

My H.S. rollers seem louder than my stock rockers. I even put a little more preload to get the valvetrain quieter but that only helped a little. From what I have "Read" you can not adjust the wipe patteren with a non-adjustable rocker. And you either adjust the preload with a shim or pushrod.

With Yella Terra's non adjustable you shim to get the correct wipe pattern. Pushrod length is used for the preload.

i had to use the shims. without the shims it too 1 1/4 turn to reach 25ftlbs after i got to zero lash. with the shims it too 2/4 turn to reach 25ftlbs after i got to zero lash. i should have the correct wipe then...right?
as for pushrods....i am still using the same compcams 7.450 that i was using with my stock rockers. i was using them. my cam is a futral 232/234 646./612 112lsa. they recomended the 7.450 and they work fine with stock rockers. my yt's are 1.7 stock ratio so it should be the same.

well from "zero" lash each 1/4 turn applies 10thousandths preload correct? so if that is correct then you would only have 20thousandthss preload.

And the recommended preload on LS7 lifters is 60-100thousandths correct?

If that is correct then you would want 1.5-2.5 turns roughly......

I am just asking

yella terra instructions say you should reach 25ftlbs within 1/4 to 1 full turn

We have a winner..........

Wipe is centering the rocker on the valvestem tip (shims) and preload is how much the the pushrods depress the lifter (PR length).

On an "adjustable" set of rockers exactly what is the parameter that is adjustable? The height for wipe pattern or the portion responsible for pushrod length?

It is adjustable for PR length (preload). Wipe will still need to be set.......

Pushrod sets both in an adjustable set, but the length must be correct and put the preload and wipe within a correct range. On non-adjustables, shim sets wipe and pushrod sets preload.

Throw away the YT instructions, they are confusing. You need to adjust wipe first, once correct then set preload by measuring for pushrods.

Here is how to set wipe: Link

Not familiar with how the YT adjustables are designed.
