Default Cam spec questions

Looking at buying a used cam. The specs are- 231/237 duration, .598/.595 lift on a 112 centerline. I will be running a set longtube headers with stock heads. Later when more money comes along, I will add a good set of heads and a LS6 or LSX intake. I use this car as a jack of all trades type of car. It is not a daily driver but I do sometimes drive 6 plus hours to events. I drag it, autoX and hope to do some open track events.

What do you think of these specs? I was told it would produce close to 400 rwhp on stock heads. Is it too much cam? What would the approximate rpm range be and could I advance it a bit to bring the rpm range down some? Lastly, would the Comp Cams 918 springs work well here {a bit worried as it's so close to .600 lift}.
