Default cam spring removal tool

What are people using to remove the springs with heads on. Can't see spending the 120.00 for the Crane tool for a one time use, and the tool I did buy is just too big for the job. Looks like a tool used for the old small blocks with studs.

Just looked at the tool. Does the back of this tool rest on the head where the valve cover seats? Wish I would have seen this a week age. More delays.

I changed out my springs using a cut 3/4 end wrench, put the open end on the retainer, drilled a hole where the stud would locate it properly.let the other side ride along the head, presto.nothing like redneck engineering.it looks funny but it worked.
