Default Can i change Just heads on my engine

I have a T/A with 155,000 on it. I was planning a head and cam swap, but have since decided to go with a turbo, ( probably still add a set of heads) I have been told that if i change the heads the bottom end will have to be rebuilt at the same time.

how true is this. my only problem is that will throw me into summer with my car still in pieces.

as for the motor lasting forever I do plan to put forged 6.0 in it this fall/winter if everything goes as planned.

thanks for all the help.

You can do just heads, but rod bolts may be an issue (bottom end). I'd do heads, lifters, new push rods, head bolts, head gaskets & rod bolts if you can get the oil pan off. If not, then everything, but rod bolts & hope for the best until the 6.0 swap in the Fall.

def can just do heads.

pick up a set of truck heads with the bigger chamber to drop compression a little, will help the engine survive the boost.

i think the truck heads are 72cc compared to 67 on the ls1
